My 5 Minutes of Fame

Why a bagel store reminds me of Atomic Ranch.

Four everything bagels, a chocolate muffin, and a blueberry muffin. That’s what was in my little brown bag from the bagel store. On the passenger seat was a homemade turkey meatloaf, roasted potatoes, and a few days worth of salad fixins… and my little bag of baked goodies. I was heading from my house in NY to my Dad’s in NJ to have breakfast with him and bring him some food for the week so he doesn’t eat hot dogs every day.

Just as I was about to pull out of the bagel store lot  last week, my husband calls and the conversation went like this:

Hubby: “Are you driving?”

Me: “No. I’m in the bagel store parking lot… just got into my car.”

Hubby: “How’s your day going?”

Me: (a little perplexed because it was only 9:00am) “Um…good, why?”

Hubby: “Well, it’s about to get better. Check out the pic I just sent.”

I checked my text message, leaned on the horn by mistake and let out a blood curdling “OH MY GOD!!” as I saw a pic of my boomerang laminate necklace on the Table of Contents Page of Atomic Ranch’s Design issue!! What the what??!! My husband’s sister took a pic of the page and sent it to him that morning… she had just gotten her issue.

A couple months ago my jaw hit the floor when the editors of Atomic Ranch magazine reached out to me and said they wanted to feature my boomerang laminate necklace in their Design issue. Wait…me??? Reallllly????? MY necklace?!??!?!? Um... yes please!!!

I was expecting the issue to come out the very end of this month, so was shocked it was so early… and had NO IDEA I would be featured on the Table of Contents page as well!

I know it’s only a small product mention, but it’s a big deal for a small one-woman handmade designer/creator operation like me. To be featured in a product roundup with Shag (the Tiki glasses) is something I’ll take any day!!! I’m very humbled, flattered and grateful.

And now every week when I go to that bagel shop I’ll think of Atomic Ranch. And the fact I was so excited that I ate the chocolate chip muffin before I got to my Dad’s house. Sorry Dad. Oops.
